If you have a life threatening emergency, please call 911 for immediate assistance or go to the nearest emergency care center. We welcome and encourage you to call us at 703-222-8600 during our business hours or send us an email message to: drdecosimo@aboutcaregyn.com with any questions or concerns. We will be happy to assist you with scheduling an appointment or refilling a prescription during our business hours. You can leave a voice message or send an email and your message will be reviewed within 48 hours. Please limit non-emergency calls to our regular office patient care hours when your records are readily available. We remind you that you can schedule your appointment online at any time by going to the "schedule appointment" link. If you need to speak to Dr. DeCosimo urgently, please follow our telephone voice message prompts and your call will be directed to her cell phone pager.

Dr. DeCosimo returns phone calls or respond to emails during working hours as time permits. If your matter is urgent, please follow the instructions on our phone system message, so you can communicate with the doctor immediately. Please understand that replies to messages for test results, prescription refills and /or non-urgent questions or concerns usually occur within 72 hours. Please be patient and understand that the doctor's schedule is very busy and demanding.

If you have had a recent surgical procedure and feel you need to reach Dr. DeCosimo urgently, please, use this guide to find situations where you should call urgently. Please call (703) 222-8600 and listen carefully to the menu of options. Click the option to call the doctor directly at any time of day if you have any of the below after any surgery:

  • Fever of 100.5 ー or higher
  • Uncontrollable nausea or diarrhea.
  • Pain medicine given is not relieving your pain
  • Chest pain or shortness of breath.
  • Strong tremors or chills.
  • Heavy vaginal bleeding
  • Blood in urine
  • Constipation and abdominal pain.
  • Vision changes
  • If you notice swelling or tingling in fingers or toes

Call during regular business hours or contact Dr. DeCosimo or our staff by e-mail at any time:

  • If you have questions about your medication, treatment or side effects.
  • If you need a refill a prescription and please be sure to provide the phone number of your pharmacy.
  • If you've heard about a new treatment.
  • Inquiring about results of a test(s) ordered by Dr. DeCosimo. If you are contacting the office to obtain laboratory, ultrasound and / or radiology studies, please know that it usually takes approximately 7-10 business days, after they are performed, for the doctor to receive your results. We will notify you as soon as possible of any test results that are abnormal and/or indicate that a follow up is needed. Most test results will require a consultation follow-up appointment with Dr. DeCosimo. This allows her to provide you with the best possible understanding of the significance of the test (s) to your present condition and future treatment.

For routine appointments, it is best to call or schedule online at least 2-3 weeks in advance to assure a time most convenient for you. If you have insurance coverage, please be sure to bring your current insurance card as you cannot be seen without it.

Please give us at least 24 hours notice if you need to cancel or change an appointment, this will allow us to provide better service to you and our other patients. You may notify us of your need to cancel your appointment by leaving a voice mail or by sending an email notification to us. Please be advised that you will be charged a $100.00 missed appointment fee if you fail to cancel your appointment without a 24 hour notice.

Similarly, kindly give us a minimum of 72 hours notice before your medication runs out and limit calls for refills during regular office hours when we have your medical record available to make sure that a refill is the best course of treatment. Please be aware of our $15.00 processing fee for prescription refills, changes to the prescription or lost prescriptions. Please have your pharmacy number available when requesting prescriptions to be called in or refilled.
